Got a big surprise this evening when I tried to string my ILF recurve. I was trying to get the string on the limb when bang. Limbs went all over the pace. I thought a limb had broken but it was the string on the Selway Limbsaver that broke. Never thought to check that para cord thinking it could give way. Luckily the limbs were not damaged during the fall. Guess it is always good to check your equipment.

Your lucky for sure. I assume bow is OK. I have a love hate thing with that style stringer. My wife almost got a limb in the eye when the rubber gizmo slipped. I use the two pocket style, each bow has a stringer. That way the upper limb pocket fits the limb nock.

If you have a Low's near by they sell small rolls of para cord so you can re use the boot and rubber over. I get knots in mine sometimes not knowing how I did it but from undoing the knots over time I noticed little areas that look like I might of cut or opened the outer jacket of the para cord so I bought a roll and saved my old ends.

Since I started using the Safe-Way leg strap bow stringer I got form Ben Graham at Hummingbird bows, I cannot bring myself to use any of the limb tip stringers. It is by far the safest and most secure way to string a recurve I have ever had. Can be seen on Ben's web site and he demonstrates its use.

I have had enough mishaps and near misses with bow stringers to never use them again! I use push-pull in a very safe manner.

That's the secret: always use a stringer with a top pocket that fits. Too small and the limb tip slips out; too large and it covers up the string grooves. I don't think there is any right size for a longbow; all the ones that leave the string groove exposed slip out and I've decided it's just too dangerous, so I either use one with a rubber gizmo or push-pull.

Inspected the limbs closely and limbs appears to be ok. Strung it up and it shoots fine. I have some good military grade Para cord and will reuse the pieces. Just never thought to check out the stringer but will in the future.
