Well, not exactly.
I have been hunting Door county here in Wisconsin for several years with fellow Professional Bowhunters Society (PBS) member Ron Lang and finally connected on a turkey. Ron and his wife have opened their home up to me and my wife for several years to share these kind of hunting opportunities. These are very typical of what PBS members will do. Yes, my purpose here is to plug the PBS as I am grateful for the opportunities that it has provided me.
Anyway, I finally got a good shot presented to me by a Door county turkey and am looking forward to a crockpot turkey dinner tomorrow.
We hunted Saturday with nothing close but from where Ron was he saw a half doz. in a corner on the opposite side of the farm. I moved the blind over there and had them fly down about 40 yards to the east. They fed my direction but just slightly out of range. As they fed they looped around like mallards coming into dekes and came closer on the next pass. I wanted the big one but a few fast steps on her part left the little one in my shooting zone alone.
The arrow never made them aware of my presence and only made a few jump. When my bird went down only a couple yards from the shot they all went to see what the problem was and finally walked away leaving their fallen sister.
Many thanks to Ron and the PBS for making these hunts possible.

Thanks for all of the kind words. This has been several years in the making and when those birds got so close on the second swing I can't remember being more excited. That sure was fun and like I say, being a part of the PBS made it all possible.
Joe, you know, since I am hunting IA before you it only makes sense for me to hang on to the horse shoe a bit longer. Besides, I seem to remember a few years back the stampede of critters you killed that nearly buried you but you held on to it all the same. We'll see how IA goes for now.
