For those that have owned both King of the Mountain and Silent Predator wool, which do you prefer and why?
Thank you!
-
Haven't owned Silent Predator, but have a fair amount of KOM and have worn Gray Wolf. If I had it to do over again, I'd get the Gray Wolf. Much tighter weave, better at blocking the wind. Pretty sure Silent Predator is constructed more like KOM than Gray Wolf.

What Orion said X2

I had a few pices of KOM and replaced it all and then some with Grey Wolf. I've also got a buddy that has a bunch of KOM and likes my Grey Wolf stuff better than his KOM. Grey Wolf is also less expensive. I know you didn't ask about Grey Wolf but you should definitely consider them before you buy. Good luck

Yep, you really need to look at Gray Wolf. Equal or better quality, great patterns, custom fit for your own body and preferences, and great people to work with.
-
I have to agree with Orion. Owned a complete set of KOM. Picked up a pair of used Gray Wolf pants here on this site and after wearing them I sold the KOM and bought a Gray Wolf shirt. Can not comment on the Silent Predator as I have never seen/wore any.

I use grey wolf under my wetsuit while whitewater rafting. Stays warm while wet and taking swims. Haven't tried the others but greywolf and mountain hardware are my go tos. Patagonia isn't the worst but overpriced compared to similar products.
-
I have not owned the other wools but i love my KOM. I was also lucky and got the pants and shirt new for under $500 years ago. I noticed with KOM the more you washed it the more the wool felted and tighted up making it more weather proof. I also never had a problem of it shrinking. I looked at the others but never felt the need to get ride of the KOM.

I have both KOM and Grey Wolf....the latter is better.
-
Gray Wolf has my vote. I like KOM, but Gray Wolf is better in every way regarding fit, weave, and price.
-
Agree with the Grey Wolf, have tons of it and really love it. Owned a bunch of KOM, the last piece I bought is really dissapointing, the pants are just falling apart. love the bunlight material, but the workmanship is just not like the old stuff. Dont own Silent predator.
-
I have to agree with those above, I have owned both KOM and Grey Wolf; I still have the Gray Wolf, it is the best wool that I have personally had.
-
At the risk of being repetitive, I have and use both KOM & Gray Wolf. The Gray Wolf is better quality at a better price. That said, for me, the KOM in the Blowdown pattern works better than the predator pattern for late season river bottom whitetails. Anyway,I dont get busted by der as often this time of the year wearing the Blowdown. I believe KOM's looser weave difusses light better.

I have KOM, SI, SP, GWW, and more. All of it works great.
-
I have KOM, Gray Wolf and Day One. The only stuff I bought new was the Day One before prices went up. My favorite is KOM. Have heard good things about Silent Predator.
-
I have a KOM shirt that I love because of the blowdown pattern. But its nowhere near as warm as my Gray Wolf jacket and pants.
The KOM is looser weave and the wind blows right through. I use it as a light jacket. When its really cold I go for the GW.
And yes, I've lived in colder places than Mississippi :)

Silent Predator and King of the Mountain are very similar. I decided to go with Silent Predator after talking to a good friend. He had just waited over a year to receive his KOM. My wait was only a few weeks. I also liked the fact that I was able to order my bibs to the exact inseam that I wanted. After comparing them we could only find very minor differences. Silent Predator is a fair amount cheaper as well. After 3 seasons of using mine, I still don't have any complaints.

I second Day One Camo. Great product, tight, warm, sized right. I have a ASAT pullover and high wasted pants both wool. Great customer service as well.
-
I have the Silent Predator Vest and Bowmans Jacket. It is great stuff and I think a better price point than KOM.
-
SP will custom fit to you for I believe $20 Same wool Mill as KOM. I love my KOM and SI never tried grey wolf
-
When I need wool..its GREY WOLF !!!!
-
As a matter of fact...I have the some of the same wool items from when the name was Hidden Wolf!....Pre Tradgang ...that would be at least 14 years.
Anyone know what happened to wild man Mark 'Double Cheeseburger' Berger?
