Hi guys - I have a pretty decent collection of hunting books including some rare ones but nothing on elk. Any recommendations? Could be tips or stories :campfire:

None better than Peterson's (or Pederson) Maybe One Man's Elk or something like that??. I can't remember the name and gave the book to my son.

Man Made Of Elk - David Petersen
On of the best. All of his books are worth a read. As a matter of fact I put Going Trad on here as a book pass around... not sure where it's at these days, but you could sign up for that to be sent to you.

Dave's book is a good one. Also, anything by Montanan Mike Lapinski. He's written several.

I am reading "Man made of Elk" right now. I really enjoy the writing and the tales.

Some good elk hunting stories in Don Thomas' writing.

I took advantage of the Going Trad pass around. Great read and I will prob buy Man Made of Elk now.

I'm going to look in to some of Petersons books

Petersen is among my favorite authors of any genre. Anything by him is worth a read.

I liked a man made of elk, I just hate having to get out the dictionary when I'm reading. :knothead:

Elk101 University. Also Rokslide.com

Mike Mittens book,One With the Wilderness has some excellent elk reading along with other great adventures,One of the best I've read.

This is a good "how to" elk book.
"Do-It-Yourself Elk Hunting" © Jim Deeming
Mostly informational, not much for stories. It's an internet e book. Just google his name.

Neargeezer is the Jim Deeming book worth the price?

I thought it was worth the price. It lays things out with logic on how you can get the type of experience you want. He uses his home state of Colorado, but his ideas would work anywhere.
I felt it had the most useable information for planning and scouting of any book I have read, even though it is a fairly short and easy read.
