Anyone know how to attach a peice of fur to the mouth of a quiver? Contact cement only? Fine stitching at the base maybe?

leather weld is ok to use but not the greatest for fur , barge is good but in my opinion the best I found is made by Loctite "contact cement" it comes in a blue can and sets up in 1second..I use it for all my leatherworking projects and man this stuff is awesome, you can get it at wallyworld...just good stuff

it also comes in a 3.8fl.oz. jar...wicked good stuff

contact cement, home depot, $4, looks like snot! on the applicator, but works well
the loctite sounds very good too--thanks razorbak!--but sometimes i need time to move/shift the leather a wee bit longer

Frank,I`ve always used barge cement..I did try some white looking glue from Tandy but it wasnt very good..

Really? Wow thats what shells use's and has been forever and never had a problem.I'll have to check on that other stuff and see how that works?Maybe on my skunk quiver?<><

Frank,I bought a badger hide to make a quiver from but sent it back..It looked like a Georgia roadkill that got run over by a pulpwood truck..

Barge Cement gets my vote. I use it every day on saddles. The beauty of barge is that it will glue damp leather so you can form it and glue it at the same time. The secret to super strong glue seams are to give it two coats of glue. Let the first dry completly and the second coat should not stick to your hand. [ put it on both peices] Tap it lightly with a smooth hammer against a weight. For a quiver use something like a pipe inside to tap against.

For a long seam like in a quiver I use to coats of barge and clamp the seam between two pieces of wood for a few hours..Then lace or stitch it..

I found some Kevlar thread at Jonas taxiedermy supply that is the size for household sewing machines but you can't break it with your hands. I've used it for hand sewing seams on a few things. works really good where you need strong but almost invisable seams. My Daughter borrowed some for bead work and now thats all she uses for the glass beads. She says the glass beads cut most threads. Sure like your Quivers, ever made one out of otter? I've got a Otter hide I've put aside, looking for the right look before I tackle it.

I havent tried otter,I`m allergic to most furs..I like doing fur quivers but the itching and sneezing makes it hard to really get involved in a quiver..Odd but fox didnt seem to bother me as bad as some of the furs did..

Bummer :( The only thing I've found that I'm allergic to is WORK :)
