Draw your bow, keeping the arrow level with the ground, release the arrow, how far it lands is the point of aim.

It could be 30yds,40yds,42yds,how ever far away it lands is the point of aim.

Big Dave,
I'm new to Trad Archery but I think I might can help on this one. From what I understand by Rod Jenkins Gap shooting method, he talks about point of aim meaning when at full draw, at anchor, put the tip of the arrow on exact spot you want arrow to hit on target and let fly. The arrow will prolly hit high or low of where the tip was actually pointing at. Move back or forward until you get the right distance from the target to where it hits      on where the tip of the arrow is pointing at. That will be your point of aim.

I'm not sure if Stalker and I are on the same page or not however I am new so, forgive me if I'm incorrect.

Have a great day, HH

I used to shoot gap and where the point of the arrow was, we called point on. I was wondering if point of aim was diff. type of aiming. I guess not.  :D    :campfire:    :D

Point of Aim is putting something (usually a small ball) between you and the target. You focus on the tip of your arrow and put it over the ball.  When you have it in the right place the arrow will end up in the bull's eye.  Point on is when you are shooting gap style and you focus on the target.  In your peripherial vision you will place the arrow on a spot below the spot you want to hit at close range.  The farther out you go the closer the arrow tip will be to your spot.  At some distance, forty yards for me, the arrow tip will appear toreston the spot.  That is point on.  Beyond that the tip will be above the spot.

Dave: If you want to know all about gap shooting, buy the book ( indirect aiming by Bob Wesley. Bob was taught the gap shooting method by Howard Hill. Best book ever written on gap shooting. Rod

I know how to shoot gap,I used to shoot that way.
I actually was dumb enough to think at the time that I was inventing a new way of shooting ,but soon found out that it is a style old as dirt. I now shoot instintive.  Thanks for the replies  :D    :knothead:    :D
