Title: Terry's form clock
Post by: Tilzbow on February 10, 2007, 12:32:00 PM
A few times I've run across a couple of pictures that Terry Green posted showing different angles of himself with a clock superimposed to show proper alingment from the side and top. These have proved very helpful and I'm hoping Terry will see this and add the pictures to this post.

I'm sure he'll put it up for you when he gets home.

Terry,

The above pictures do a great job of illustrating proper alignment from the top view. From a side view (camera pointed at chest) and at full draw I assume the shoulders, hands and arrow should all point in parallel lines toward the target similar to those shown in the second picture above. Is this a correct assumption?

Thanks,
Scott

Great illustration. Note the feet are perpendicular to the target and the slight bend in the bow arm.

Terry,

Where is your elbow pointed?

I've heard some say to point it straight down, others say to point it directly behind you with the inside crease of the elbow vertical.  Of course others say to do whatever is comfortable.

I'm a relative beginner with recurves and would rather become comfortable with the form that is the steadiest and most consistent.

Thanks,
Allen

Great illustration and great alignment IMHO. If you draw a line through the drawing arm elbow/forearm it should intersect at the pressure point on the bow. It looks to me like that's exactly where it is going..

Looks like bow arm elbow crease pretty much vertical where usually recommended.
