Y'all have probably discussed this a million times...but I only 4 found topics in the search database about this.
I currently own 3 types of tabs. 1 smooth leather wilson/bw. 2 hair tabs. 1 hair tab has a rubber no pinch pad. The other has a felt no pinch pad. I started Trad with a glove. I purposely went out and found the stiffest, theickest glove I could get my hands on. Here in Miami it is humid (no really it is). So I like to soften up leather with mink oil. The glove was working great, no crease. I was gettting razz'ed all the time by more experienced trad guys.."gloves stink"..."they crease"..so I moved to tab. Now I notice when I use the floppier type hair tabs my release ain't so good. It is almost like the ends of the tab are being hit by the string on release. These are held on the finger by a loop at end of the tab. With the wilson/BW tab it is lessed pronounced this one held on the finger by a velco loop at mid tab.
I am seriously considering going back to gloves. The big shot looks crease resistant. Any ideas? Comments? Cures, even?
Thank you in advanced for any words of wisdom.

HH used a glove......he didn't stink. :D

Shoot with what you shoot better with, not what others think work the best.

I'm with Terry,
Byron uses a glove he doesn't stink either. I've tried both and a glove seems to work best for me. I tried a tab and I just couldn't get a feel for it. I feel like I have more control with a glove. I have also been playing with a deep hook vs. just pulling with the first pads of my fingers. I seem to be getting a better release by just using the pads.

Thanks for the input. I am still new at Trad..compared to most others here. So I am just concerned on the durability of gloves. Will I be buying gloves very often? Do they really develope creases that quickly ( I was told that just as you break them in...then they crease and time to buy another).
What kind of wear do y'all get out them?

Nah.....that aint true......
I use a Big Shot Slick Shot......and I've used the same two for 3 years now. They are custom fit from a drawing.

Ray,
First with regards to the guys who are really good and are shooitng a tab I'm sure have been practicing for a long time and anyone who practices as much as I feel these guys do, can shoot good with any equipment. Bare finger, feet what ever..
I agree with Terry only I purchased an American Traditional glove from 3 Rivers. You can order direct and get custom made I believe for about the same price.
I wanted a thick glove to protect my fingers as I have started shooting again with a fire under me so t say.
The so called "crease" makes your grab of the string consistant. I never seen a tab that didn't crease anyway. A couple buddies of mine have been shooting their gloves for a few years now.
When I first put my new glove on my fingers I thought to myself, how long is this thick glove gonna take to break-in???? I felt I had three stiff fingers and was even thinking of using baseball glove softener but was afraid it would defeat the purpose of why I bought it.
Decided to let it breakin by itself. I was amazed how quickly after only a couple days shooting it broke-in and has maintained its overal strength I was lQQking for. I have it for a couple months now and my glove for life. Also helps with my heavier bows.
I can pick up a tab and shoot with no real problems and when it comes down to tabs I am a Buffalo Mitt guy, but I prefer a glove. Seems cleaner release.

I shoot with a calf-hair tab. I have also noticed some "floppiness" upon release. My cure for that was to get a smaller tab(even if I have to set it in front of my knuckle instead of behind). This fixed my problem.
In MY experience, the calf-hair just feels slicker upon release.
Just a thought...

Well I ordered the big shot. I like the idea of nylon surfaces. I guess it is back to gloves. Thanks for y'all's input. Everyone has been very helpful.

Nice glove isn,t it.My wife got me one for Christmas ans so far I like it.I've shot with both and mainly with tabs for some time but forgot my tab one day so I put on a glove I had with me and liked the control I seemed to have using it.I also had 3 dry fire's useing the winn winn 360 tab that I just couldn,t get over so I got rid of it.Some guys like them alot so in a nut shell ya hafta shoot what YOU like best.
Genrally speaking a tab will give ya a cleaner release. That squeek that often comes with atab is from your fingers rubbing the arrow I used to wear a light pair of cotton gloves under the tab and it took care of the squeek.
Again use whats best for YOU not the other guy,Good luck
