Title: Hoyt Tiburon limb noise
Post by: tritanic on March 09, 2007, 09:11:00 AM
I have recently purchased  a Hoyt Tiburon at 55 lbs. weight. I have set up the brace height as per the manufacturers recommendation - that being 7 1/2 inches from the deepest part of the grip , to the string.

I seem to be getting what I would call a string slap noise on the limbs whewn shooting. It comes accross as a dull thud upon release.

All my other bows are longbows and therefore the string does not hit the limbs upon release and hence no noise

I have string silencers installed , and have tried adjusting the brace height anywhere from 7 " to about 7 3/4 " with little improvement.I also have mole skin under the tips where the string contacts the limbs.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wool yarn on the strings from the loop to just past last contact with the limb will help. Check out the sponsor Bow Hush for excellent materials for that. Also you can put pads in the limb pockets that will quiet it down. DAS Kinetics another sponsor here sells materials for that.

You can make your own limb pads for under the limbs out of thin neoprene.
It makes a big difference on my gamemaster

they make factory strings from hoyt out of a similar material that they make compound strings out of, i guarentee itll be a whole lot quieter if you go to a endless loop b50 string...
