I was shooting last night with a calf hair tab. My ring finger started getting a blister on the side closest to my pinky. I was not getting the protection from the tab on release.
Is this due to the tab, as I've only shot about 150 arrows with it?
Is this due to a flaw in my release?
Should I try a glove instead?
Should I wait until I get a callous?

That is caused by a form error not the tab. It's unlikely the problem is your fingers. Could be pulling with the arm instead of the back, not maintaining back tension (creeping), or something in the shoulder alignment.

Hmmm. Looks like I have one or many problems then. Where should I start?

If you can post some photos or, better yet, a video of you shooting you will get plenty of good advice. You have thousands of experienced archers at your fingertips waiting to help out.
