Title: Shooting off the shelf vs, rest
Post by: Doublegun on June 05, 2007, 11:58:00 AM
Picked up a real nice early 70's K-Hunter.  Rug is still on the shelf but there is a Hoyt rest stuck on the riser which the previous owner used.  Does it make any difference (obviously the nock point would change if I take Hoyt off and go back to shooting off the shelf.

Thoughts?

Arrow flight will be MUCH better with the rest on.  For hunting, I prefer to not have a rest, just seems easier.  It will take some fine tuning to get good flight off that big ol' flat shelf.

If the rug on the flat shelf gives you trouble tuning, try puttting a 1/8th inch piece of leather under the rug at the plate.  This will give less contact with the Rug, It helped on My K Hunter.
