I got a samick spirit two weeks ago and was bare shaft tuning it. Problem was it was always nock left. Tried changing arrows, brace height, but always knock left. I called the guy I got the bow from and he said to shoot the fast flight string from it. So i got a fast flight string and man what a difference. 20 yards out perfect bare shaft flight. Man I had to put up another bale of straw behind the target amazing how well a tuned arrow penetrates. Does this make sence or was it more than likley my release.

It makes a lot of sense to me, the difference was most likely due to your nocks being too tight on the non-fastflight string.
The fastflight string might have made a difference for two reasons, one the nock did not fit as tight, due to the smaller diameter of the fastflight string.
Two, the increase energy may have nulified the effect of the tight nock with it's increase energy transfer.
Remember, it is wise to make sure our nocks are not too tight regardless the type of string we are shooting.
I am happy it worked out for you....

The increased power is also due to the strings properties - it does not stretch anything like Dacron does and delivers more of the bows stored energy to the arrow . Linen has similar properties , the lack of stretch will smooth out a rough shooting selfbow , as a natural fibre it is thicker and heavier than the synthetics .
On a similar note I was having trouble tuning my new Rivers Edge static recurve when I made up a new 14 strand TS1 string but when I made a 18 strand string the bow smoothed out beautifully .regards Jacko
