Title: newbie string question (bear montana longbow)
Post by: wyzzard on November 19, 2007, 01:00:00 PM
i recently bought a bear montana longbow - my first longbow.  i'd like to get a spare string for it, but i'm wondering whether i should go with the standard bear replacement string or should i get a flemish string?

what are the advantages to either?

if i switch to a flemish string, will it have a big impact on my shooting, ie. will i need to retune the bow, etc.?

thanks for your help.

The string that came with the bow is probaly way over built....
A custom string will be of less strands and you will get better peformance....
If your current arrow is spined correctly you should be ok with a new string.

Get in touch with Rod Jenkins and tell him what you got and have him make you a good string. Or you can make your own. I make my strings but if I did not make my own I would have Rod make all my strings. Good luck and Mike G is right you will get better peformance with a custom string.
