Title: TP or form issue
Post by: pktm on February 26, 2009, 05:43:00 PM
I've been running into a bad spell where my anchor just wasn't consistent as I liked. I mainly draw in a swing/hill method, which works well when I shoot my Hill bows but not so good using my recurve. I seem to come into my face awkwardly. By coming in from below, I couldn't get a solid feel. So I tried a different draw, I hold the bow up, slight cant, initiate some back tension and draw staight back instead of from below.
I find my anchor much easier and by initiating the back early in the draw, I seem to have a better follow through. Also my draw elbow is slightly above the string hand but evens out at full draw. I also find that I'm slightly pushing with my bow hand toward the target, which seems to help with the release.
Maybe all I needed was a little change up.

I did the same and switched and I also find my anchor easer. When the time comes you don't need ot be thinking about finding your anchor.
This is why it's called instintive shooting  every thing should come natural you should'nt have to think about  what your doing not even the yardage. You only need to think about 1 thing thats your spot.
Besides I'm a deer hunter and it's a lot less movement when the time comes.Heres one other thing that has helped me in 25 years of instintive shooting. If you shoot instintive'ly never think about how many yards that shot will  be.Your hand eye will do it for you.Remember if you have to think of any thing but your SPOT your doing something wrong.
