Title: ASA Target Vitals
Post by: Divinecedar on March 09, 2009, 02:07:00 PM
Howdy folks!

I shot my first ASA course of the season yesterday and had a blast...BUT I am pretty rusty!

Does anyone know the dimensions of the vital zones on say, a whitetail deer target? (i.e. diameter of 8, 10, and 12 rings)

I am not going to dish out the dough to buy a 3D target, but would like to practice on a paper target with similar dimensions!

Thanks!

These are not exact but....on most McKenzies that ASA shoots the 10 ring is about 4" in diameter. The 8 ring is actually a round ended triangle that is roughly 11" from side to side and top to bottom. The 12 ring is about the size of a fifty cent piece and is located at 5 and 7 o'clock on the inside edge of the 10 ring. The 12 rings position is determined by the direction the animal is walking. If it is going right the 12 is at 7 o'clock and if it is going left the 12 is at 5 o'clock.
