Hey everyone, anyone have a suggestion for a clicker?
I mean...... what brand?
I've got target panic so bad I can't group at 5 yards, and I know nothing about clickers, but I'm gonna try one to see if it'll help me get over this target panic.

i use the Crick it clicker i prefer it to the crickety click
kustom king and 3 rivers stock them

there are several places where you can install it some prefer to put it on the riser some up on the top limb
i have mine on the top limb (where the limb does not bend)
also i recommend you replace the string that comes with it, with a piece of compound bow "nock loop string" or something similar, less tangles that way.
hope that helps
done wonders for my shooting!

Thanks tradtusker,
I was wondering of those two, which would do the best.

I've used the Clickety Click for 16 years with no problems. Do a search here and on the Powwow, you should be able to find lots of info on setting them up. Definately get rid of that ball chain before you shoot it...it will ding the heck out of your bow!!
-
I think they both work well, but I personally use the Crick-It.
-
I use a crick-it, like the smaller base
-
Thanks guys...... the crick-it may be the one I need, due to my longbow having very narrow limbs.

My only suggestion regarding clickers is.....take the time to set the length correctly. A good way to set the clicker length is to have a friend make sure the clicker goes off with the point of the elbow in alignment with the arrows point......and don't adjust the clicker the first time you have problems getting the clicker to go off...adjust the shooter :)

...adjust the shooter
:) Now, that's funny... and right too. Oh yeah... and did someone say to get rid of the chain. That's good advice too.

Thanks for all the advice/info guys. But I think I'm gonna hold off on the clicker for now.
Actually, I had thoughts of just giving it up. It's just no fun shooting like this anymore. And I came to realize that a clicker just ain't a fool proof method for beating TP.
I had my TP kinda under control a couple years ago after getting a guy to sorta coach me online, but had to quit the program halfway through due to my wife getting sick.
But I was about to call it quits when he came to the rescue on another site that I had posted questions about the clicker.
So with his help, I hope to be back shooting well again.
Thanks again!

HNH,
You last post brings up an interesting thing I discovered when I was going through TP: there's no one-size-fits-all solution. Some guys kick it with black bale work, others use shooting drills, but for some a clicker is the perfect solution. At least, it was in my case.
I too got to the point where shooting wasn't fun and I was seriously considering giving it up. It took me getting to that point before I broke down and bought a clicker. In hindsight, it was probably the best $13 I ever spent, and I should have done it years earlier.

Thanks very much for the comments Jason. I've decided to not try the online coach. I've decided for now, that I'm gonna give up shooting the bow.
And I believe a clicker will work. I've heard more positives than negatives about it, but I really feel I need to start bow shooting all over.
I don't know at this time how I'm gonna do that... or when.
But I think it's best for me to just lay it down for now, and quit.
I'm gonna buy some different books and/or videos on shooting styles, and maybe go take a class like the class some of the members took under Ricky Welch.
But I'll need to save some money before I can get started.
So for now, I'll just dream about shooting my bow.
Thanks for all the help folks!

The question is about clickers and TP so I might be off topic.
I've been practicing with a rigid formmaster.
The formmaster has 2 loops that wrap around your elbow and a piece of parachute cord attached to your string. you set the length of the parachute cord so that at full draw the bowstring is about 1" in front of your fingers.
When you shoot, if your drawing elbow is not aligned properly, you can feel your elbow being pulled forward. If you apply proper backtension, you won't feel anything since your drawing arm will be aligned properly.
Viper's book, "Shooting the Stickbow", has some excellent formmaster drills.
Sorry for going off topic.

Not off topic at all Steve..
I'll have to check into that.

hnh- check out Jay Kidwell's book. Sports psychologist who knows how to work with the brain-excellent stuff. He understands how we were created. . .
Your struggle is common and 100% solvable. . .my olympic, professinonal, and collegiate athlete friends (who I mentor and minister to) have all dealt with it at different sports. . . those that have succeeded learned the sports pysch stuff. It really is helpful in undersatnding how and why our brain works the way it does.

hnh, I suggest turning everything upside-down, figuratively speaking. Quit shooting at static targets, and go roving with some judos or blunts. Don't try so hard, and just have fun. Don't worry too much about form, just concentrate on hitting that pine cone, etc., whatever it takes. If you just can't get back to full draw any other way, close your eyes and draw to anchor, then open your eyes, line up and shoot. Too much pressure to perform aggravates the problem. Having fun makes it better.
A layoff for a couple of weeks might help, if you don't go back to your old practice habits when you start back.
