Title: arrow rest wear
Post by: flyflinger on April 25, 2009, 09:42:00 AM
Hey everybody. I am a new trad shooter and am having some issues with my arrow rest. I shoot a tomahawk longbow and I am getting a lot of wear on the calf hair rest next to my hand ( away from riser). I have even been scuffing the wood that isn't covered by the rest! I cant figure out what I might be doing to cause this. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

I've heard that means your over spined on your arrows. Might try raising your nock a little also.
There are a lot more knowledgeable people on the site than me though.

I have the same problem.  I was using stick-on synthetic fuzzy stuff and 10 arrows later it was half gone.  Finally I just put some thicker leather on instead and all seems fine.  But to answer your question;  I don't know what causes it.

I did figure out today that my arrows are over-spined. Maybe that is part of it. Appreciate the input.

If your arrows are over spined the quill of one of the hen feathers is usually causing that.
