Terry. I apologize. I meant to post this in the shooter's forum. Please move it if you deem necessary.
I've been shooting trad for about two years VERY little. Decided to make the switch to full time trad (hunter, not a target shooter, per se) this fall.
Watched MBBI. Good stuff.
Bought MBBIII. GREAT stuff.
I always knew, shooting my compound, that long distance shooting would enhance (identify) form errors. My biggest issue (form is far from great) with trad shooting is windage flyers.
So I decided to back up. I walk out the back.....off the deck....and decide to shoot from there. I remembered one thing the guys were emphasizing during MBBIII. Finding the right grip/release that gets your bow jumping towards the target. SO....only able to work on one thing at a time....I decided that would be it.
If I get the bow jumping towards the target.....my windage flyers shrink a LOT.
I stepped off my target......36 yds. I plan to shoot soem from 40, 50....and maybe more, as I progress. Right now...I'd better stick with 35 or so (I'm shooting at vegas faces on a 20"x20" BH target).
Given how long I've been seriously practicing, the elevation misses don't bothe rme one bit. They'll come. I made a post here a few weeks ago.....asking if windage shouldn't be a constant. I think it should be one thing we don't worry about.
Thanks to the MBBII guys for coming out with this video. For someone like me (or for ANYONE), there's so many nuggets in there at our disposal.
If my bow jumps towrads the target.....it probably means I had a clean release, also (I'm thinking).
Never been more excited about practicing shooting a bow.

Yeah....windage can be controled through proper alignment...which leads to back tension, which leads to a smooth release in a rearward motion.
Any way you can film yourself?

I'll try, Terry. I have a camera....but formatting the discs (mini DVD) is something I've only done, once.
I'll try to get some footage up, in the next couple days or so.
Which angle are you interested in seeing?
-
Broadside so we can see the front...and overhead.
-
Not to hijack but when you get some footage please explain to a computer idiot how to post a vid..
-
I've got a post in the videography forum right now that might help us both.
We'll see.
I took some footage, yesterday, and to be honest I'm surprised it looks as good as it does (to me).
