I have been playing around with shooting a couple bows three under. They are tillered for split so they make more noise and have more vibration shooting them three under. I am shooting better three under. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to compensate for the change to balance things back out like adding an extra silencer near one limb or something.

i moved my string silencers closer to the midle and moved my nockin point up a touch it worked for me.

I shoot exclusively three under....Jake FR is right on the money....I use fox fur silencers a 3rd of the way down the string..and bump the nock point up an extra 1/8th inch.

ya normally 3 under requires a higher nock point'

I will play with the silencer location and move them in to the middle more.
Has anyone ever tried more silencer material or different spacing one from the other to try and offset the timing change to the limbs? I got a used bow once that had the silencer spacing off from one end to the other, and it really made a noticeable difference when I balanced them out. I am wondering if I can to that intentionally. Or does the moving of the silencers in more do exactly that and not just cut down the noise? Are there certain silencers that work best for this? I assume you need a reasonable amount of drag to calm things down.

For those who recommended moving the silencers closer to the middle or 1/3 down the sting is that 1/3 the sting length or basically third points or is it one third the way from tip to nock? I just traded on bow and have a bad sting on the other so it will be the end of the week before I have bows going again to try this.

or.... you can build the rest up, or use a stick-on rest. That will change the tiller.

Any idea how far up? The thickness of my index finger?

Sorry, but nope. You said you noticed a vibration and noise. I'd simply suggest to experiment with it. Your bow will let you know when it settles down.
You can build the rest up and raise to nocking point too. Have fun... those are the kind of things that makes archery interesting.

Thanks I will give it a try.

I use 2 points for silencers, wool at 1/4 and a small catwhisker at 1/3 via Wingnuts' advice...PR

Great thread, I just turned to 3 under as well. With my GN Ghost, no issues at all with noise. With my Black Swan Hybrid, a little more noise than I want so I'll try moving the nock.
