Do any of you guys shoot out of your usual class?
For the last two years I've won our local 3D league in the RU class.
This year I wanted to shoot in the longbow class but can't due to my arrow choice,,so I decided I'd just shoot it in the recurve class instead.
So,just wondering how those that have done this got on with it.

I've shot my Saluki Horsebow (Ibex) in Fita 3D tourneys, A normal Recurve would be easier as the Ibex requires good form to get the best out of it but I've done pretty well against normal Recurves.
Earthdog how did you fair in the tourney against the Recurves?

I shoot multiple classes. I just change my setup to match the rules or shoot the tougher class if I think I am up for the challenge.

Zetabow,This is for our 3D league which starts next month.
I have shot friendly type tournaments with a longbow in the recurve class,and I've always placed in the top 3.
I'll bring this thread back up an let you know how I faired after the 14th.

I shoot the same bow year round and just shoot whatever class they stick me in. In IBO it's RU, NFAA it's trad, and IFAA Bowhunter Recurve.
I used to shoot longbow at local stuff and normally shot very close to my recurve scores. I've been thinking about getting an IFAA legal longbow and woodies so I can give Steve a run :-)

I already started running, in the other direction :D
7-8 people shooting great Longbow Field scores at the moment in IFAA, the World Field Champs in Germany this year will be a very tough tourney, it's an exciting time to be shooting Longbow division in the IFAA. :archer:

I shoot both Recurve and longbow. They are set legal for all competitions

Well todays the day,in 15 minites I'm off for the first 2 rounds of the Kiwi 3D.
I'm not going to register until the last momment,,,let the hornets get nice an hot about my carbons before I tell em' the joke.
I'll post the scores later tonight so you all get to know how much of a whipping I get.
This will be the first "just for fun" shoot for a long time,,I'm really looking forward to it.

Well,it was a lot of fun.
The course was very hard,steep up and down hills,lots of dead ground across gullys,,and my personal favorite,,up hill and over a slight riser where you can't see the ground over the rise,,,yuck!
And to top it off,none of the better recurves showed up,but the four best longbowers in this part of the country did.
I ended up shooting some borrowed woods "due to peer pressure",,,I now owe the guy 3 new arrows ;^)
Anyway the scores for the day,,top recurve 546 ,top longbow 582,,,my score at 5th place 552.
So the longbow guys cleaned up the recurves.
That certainly doesn't happen very much.
It was a great day out for me,it rained heavily for the first two hours so nobody had up right feathers and everybody had wet strings,plus there was a stiff breeze all day.
I had no expectations,a two week old bow 10lb heavier than my recurve,borrowed arrows,and came away very pleased with the results.
Oh yeah,my buddy Phil had to stay at home and Baby sit while his wife came to the shoot with me.
Valentines day here,,,,,ho ho ho !
