Title: gap/"gun barreling"??
Post by: Ybuck on January 31, 2010, 05:35:00 PM
I'm trying out gap shooting. 3 under, with my top finger 3/4" below the arrow. Which gets the arrow right up under the eye. So that i can "gun barrel".
My questions are is this hard on the bow, pulling that far below the center. I notice it's louder. I'm assuming i'll have to retune also?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you.

This is an example of string-walking. Check out Masters of the Barebow volume 2 and watch the section by Ty pelfrey. Essentially You keep your anchor the same but change the distance your top finger is below the arrow. String-walkers generally put the arrow point right on the spot they want to hit and just change their finger spacing below the arrow for different distances. I don't think ther is any danger of damaging the bow ,but arrow tune will change with the different spacing. And yes, this is usually louder than split finger shooting. I'm cerainly not an expert but I have played around with this.
