Just read Howards book Hunting the Hard Way and am going to try his aiming method. My question is when focusing on target and holding finger up I am seeing two fingers. Is this typical? I am using the finger to the left (right eye) for aiming. Just wondefing if everyone sees two. I have not seen any mention if it.
Thanks
Dave

Its very typical in the beginning Dave. Dont worry about it and follow Hill`s instruction "Verbatim". Once you truly train the mind you will have but a single reference. The "arrow".

It doesn't happen with Split because 90% of focus is on the spot I want to hit but I have this problem sometimes using POA, I'm at full draw using the arrow point and focus is lost from dominant eye and arrow shifts off target and have to start the shot over.
It wouldn't be a problem if I closed one eye for POA shooting but I'm so used to shooting Instinct\\Split with both eyes open I find closing one eye too distracting for POA.
When learning Split\\Gap a lot of focus is on the arrow point in relation to the target but as you become familiar with the gaps you will put most of your focus on the spot and you wont have this focus shift anymore.

Like zetabow says. Thats it.

Thanks for the feedback.
I would not call it a focus shift but seeing two fingers at the same time side by side. I could line up one with the target and still see the other, both about equal. It sounds like one, hopefully the right one in this case will disappear with practice?

sorry I mean focus shift as in Dominant eye to weaker eye taking over and not mental concentration

It will Jollymon because you train your mind to use the right one.

I aim with split vision because that's what came naturally for me. I understand about seeing double with both eyes open, I believe it's because my left eye is almost as strong as my right eye, as far as dominance goes. Squinting my left eye cures this and causes no problem for me.

When you see two of your finger, that's because your finger is what your really looking at most.
Once you properly focus on a target, the double vision should vanish.
