When I shoot my woodies i am getting a black mark along the bottom from the rest? I am shooting 65-70# cut to 27 3/4" BOP with 190gr. heads from a 48# recurve. I can bare shaft OK at 20 or so yards but not consistently. What does this indicate? I can not get them to group very good but my AD's are right on.

Your arrow is way too stiff. It is not bending around the riser when you shoot. It should not have bare shafted properly. I'll guess it bounced off the riser when you shot. Your options are limited as to what you can do, I don't know of a heavier tip for woodies. A heavy broadhead may work because it adds length to the shaft. Maybe someone else can come up with something? Bill

Try moving the nock point up a touch. I suspect your wood arrows are thicker than the carbon and your nock might be set borderline low. My bet is if you move the nock point up you'll be in the clear.

I'm with Bill appears you wood arrows should definately be too stiff. How close to centershot is your recurve, and which AD arrows are you shooting out of it?
If the arrows are overspinned and you want to use them and your current broadhead you may want to look at possibly getting some woody weights to add to the front end of the shaft to weaken them up.

yep arrows are way to stiff.you probaly need some 55-60 spined shafts

you can try tapering the shafts you have to lighten the spine and move the FOC forward as well.sandpaper and elbo grease. but id just buy new woodies in 55-60's. whats your draw ? hopefully bop.or else your drawing less weight hense less sping required.chk out the link it will get you on track.

Your post mentions your group is not consistent. I agree that your probably bouncing the arrow off the shelf which may indicate a stiffer spine. If they are sometimes OK and then sometimes not, you may want to concentrate on your release form. If every once and a while and arrow flys erratic from the rest, mark that arrow some way. One or two arrows may have just enough difference in spine to make a difference in the shot.
