Title: Shoulder alignment (Mr. Green please...)
Post by: Dozer on April 11, 2010, 03:43:00 PM
Mr. Green your clock metaphor has been in my mind for well over a year now. I consistently hit in the 9 inch vital area thanks to it but I'd like to get them even tighter.
Do you find that during the draw you must tuck the leading shoulder in. If I just draw and don't think about tucking it my shot always goes left. When I tuck it in I 'feel' like I'm hyper extending it. It doesn't hurt at all it just 'feels' like it may be to far in even though I get the desired result. I've wondered if this feeling comes from the fact that I am a bit on the thin side in the upper body area.
I've yet to take footage of myself during the tuck and without it. I'll be doing that soon but an opinion from you or any other clock form shooter would be helpful.

I also try to match Terry's clock in my allignment.  I find that as I draw the bow, my shoulders tend open up, to point to the left of the target, in the early stages of the draw.  It order to get my shoulders perpendicular to the target at full draw, I have to rotate them back into allignment.  This feels like I'm pushing with my bow arm, and like I'm moving my left shoulder in towards the bow.  I don't know if this is the same thing you mean by your "tuck" but it sounds like the same movement I'm describing above.

I don't know if I should be making this movement during the draw, or if I should just work on keeping my shoulders in allignment from the start to the finish of the draw, and maybe Terry can comment on that.
