You'll probably learn lots of other new stuff if you shoot trad for a while.  Might want to pick up a good book on traditional equipment/bowhunting.  I recommend the Tradiitional Bowhunters Handbook by T. J. Conrads. Will save a lot of trial and error, hasten discovery and reduce frustration. Good luck.

That deeper pistol grip may also be giving you a straighter bow arm and a more static shooting rhythm.  It also so may be unnatural for your bodies mechanics and can cause wear and tear if you shoot a heavy bow to much.  Where as the Hill type handles will give you a more fluid hunting form, a shorter power stroke, active bent joints that are not jammed tight, and the tendency to shoot faster. What ever works best for you is fine.  Some do better with static form and others with dynamic fluid form. I was better at targets with target form, I could not get it to work very well in the field for me. If it would have, I would still be hunting with my FITA target bow, it shot a 2016 202 fps.
