I seem to hit my nose about 3 out of 10 shots with the string on release. I have always done this and never thought too hard about it until just now. I was out back practicing and twanged my nose good enough to cut it. Was wondering if anyone else has this problem and what you do about it.
Thanks,
Dax

There seem to have been two reasons I have hit my nose with the string. The first is when I don't turn my face toward the target enough. Turning my head toward the target also gives me better vision of the target with my right eye, and helps me to shoot more accurately.
The second happened when I bought a different shooting glove that had very hard fingertips. The string seemed to roll right off those fingertips into my nose, regardless of how I held my head. Want a really good deal on a barely-used shooting glove?

Remember Masters Of The Barebow series? Ron Jenkins always hits his nose on release this is why he wears a piece of tape on it to keep it from becoming a bloody mess.

Are you overdrawing? I was hitting my nose and causing it to bleed and realized I was trying to increase my draw length which resulted in me hitting my nose with the string and string nock. That was about 6 months ago and I haven't done it again since.

I am pretty sure it was me not turning my face to the target. Went outside this evening and tried hard to keep my head turned towards the target more and did not have any hits while I was doing that.
Thanks guys

Well I was just outside slinging some arrows and took a nice chuck out of my nose this time. I had not hit it any for the last couple of days until just now. I guess I might have to start taping mine too.

I've heard that you can't get off the string fast enough if you consciously release the string, and that can cause the string to roll off your fingers onto your nose. I've always had a subconscious release, so this is one of the few problems I haven't personally experienced, but I thought I'd mention it.
