My recurve is a Bear Grizzly that's 60" if you follow the curves in the limbs with a cloth tape measure, if I just go straight from tip to tip is around 55" so I'll call it a short bow.
Mine was a little noisy since it's glass backed laminate bow, but I solved that with some of my beaver silencers on the string and one wrapped around the ends of the string just below the loop to cushion the string against my limbs to dampen limb slap. They make brush buttons for this purpose, but I could never get along with those and they look tacky. My home made beaver ones look sweet, and my Grizzly is whisper quiet now.
