Title: Canting & Arrow Flight
Post by: wv lungbuster on October 26, 2010, 08:45:00 AM
Well the problem is when I cant my arrow flies tail right then straightens up. I know that this is not a spine problem  because I get good arrow flight most of the time. I think I might be torquing the string. Anyone experience this problem.

It sounds like the arrow may be bouncing off the sight window.

It is very possible to torque the string when shooting with a pronounced cant as most people will keep their head and release hand in a vertical position but the string is angled.  Best thing to do is keep your head and release hand at the same angle as the bow when you cant and will keep you from twisting and torquing the string.  Good luck

Arrow flight should be  good no matter the cant angle.....something else is causing it...most likely shooter error like stated above.

Arrow flight should be the same no matter the cant as terry said. One thing I find myself doing if my shots are off while canting is not keeping my upper body in the correct aligment causing me to miss.

I know arrow flight should be the same no matter what position I shoot in. I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've never had this problem before.

If you cant the bow you must cant your head. If not your not shooting where your looking.

I can't not cant! I'm comfortable shooting the bow in almost any position, except for vertical. Like others have said, you have to cant your head and hand along with the bow. If your hand doesn't follow the bow, it will cause you to torque the string.

I notice when I cant a great deal - like 45° or more - I hit a bit high.  Enough so that I shoot for a bunnie's front feet when tossing blunts under briars.  Enough so that sometimes I miss and hit them in the eye.  ;-)

Every bow and every aracher has a cant that it and he likes.  the reason to cant is to get your eye over the arrow.  once it is over the arrow you will shoot it straight unless you make a form fault.  I suspect that you are either plucking the string because you are not keeping your draw hand on your face or you are throwing your bow hand to one side.  when i screw up it is most often to the right because i pull my hand from the shoulder to the right.  I am a lefty.  if you keep your draw hand on your face and don't move your bow hand I'll bet you money you will shoot good groups.
