Title: Somethin' i tried
Post by: mnbearbaiter on January 25, 2011, 03:15:00 PM
Normally i shoot totally instinctive, but have occassional bouts with short drawing, not anchoring, and slight target panic! I got an idea in my head while practicing out of my popup for turkey season today to close my left eye(im right handed), while still just staring at what i wanna hit all through the draw/anchor/release process! WOW is all i can say! I seem to be getting to full draw without having to force myself to, as well as shooting better groups on my 3D turkey target! I can only get about 13yds in the basement, but i feel more confident than i ever have shooting the bow! Did i block out some extra BS that i was maybe picking up with my left eye by closing it, or did closing an eye just make me concentrate a little more? Im still not holding for but a split second, but i never have, full draw everytime sure feels nice!

You're probably just concentrating more. I suggest you try coming to anchor and just holding, NOT shooting, then let down. What you describe is that you've conditioned yourself to shoot as soon as you hit anchor, and this leads to the problem you have now.
