I went to my first trad 3 D shoot today. I had a blast but need to improve. What do you think is the best all around video to help?
-
The Masters of the Barebow series is without a doubt the best instructional DVD material I've seen.
-
Moebows videos on this forum will help you out a great deal. You can ask the man questions and he will help you out.All free.Thats what has helped me.

Another vote for the Master of the Barebow series. I also think there is great value in watching the member videos above in the ***Member Form Improvement Videos Update 1*** thread, and reading the critiques of the videos.

Hitting Like Howard Hill is one of my favorites.
-
Another vote for Master's of the Barebow, but I'd recommend volume III--Rod Jenkins' instructions in paticular.

Ditto.
I also vote for G Fred Asbell's latest book. I know you said videos, but that book really is an outstanding resource for shooting better.

I just watched Masters of teh Barebow 3.....its a very informative video....alot of tips on technique to practice.

Masters of the barebow III is the best in series
-
I agree with with several others. MBB vol III is the best for helping with shooting form and shot sequence.
-
Hitting Like Howard hill has my vote!
-
PJ,
I love that video, but if I had to get just one I would go with MBB vol 3 as well only because not everyone is built to shoot like Howard Hill. There are just so many different ways to shoot and the more you know the better chance you have to shoot well. Once you have a few MBB DVD's then get other more specific ones. I also picked up a lot from 'The Bowhunters of Trad Gang DVD' and Fred Ekler's 'Easton Bowhunting TV' on DVD.

Thanks everyone for the input. I was wondering which Masters of the Barebow to get if I only got one.
-
I think Masters of the Barebow 3 was the clear winner...I agree it's the best but all three are worth owning as well as Modern Traditional to see a high tech side to barebow as well.
-
You certainly won't go wrong with the MBB3 DVD, but let's back up a bit.
If you're a relative beginner and having consistent form and a shot sequence is needed, that video is a great tool. But if you're already shooting pretty well at, say, a NFAA target at 15 or 20 yards, that's something else.
3D is more about adjusting to different distances, elevations, and sized targets. Throwing that in if you're still struggling with the basics is a recipe for frustration.

The Masters of the Bare Bow series (in particular No. III) are terrific. However, by reading books by G. Fred Asbell, Brian Sorrells, Byron Ferguson, Jay Kidwell, etc., you will find a lot of different ideas or techniques to try to see if they work for you. Part of the fun of all these books and videos is to stop in the middle of reading or watching and try something to see how it feels.
While there are a lot of thoughts on equipment and form, you will also find many things that are repeated across most sources. Just like repetition in shooting, repetition in reading/watching helps drive certain points home.

3 rivers has the MBB I,II,III combo set for a decent price...each has some things the other vids dont so I would suggest getting the combo pack.

I agree. I instantly improved with both and continue to get better.

Masters of the Barebow 3 was the best of the three so far.Number 4 should be along in May according to Denny.
