If your not blind bailing you should start. You can separate form from aiming, but you can't separate aiming from form. It's just good for your form.
Do you blind bailing with a bare shaft. If your arrows are in tune and your arrow goes in on an odd angle your not shooting with the same form. If your arrows go in at the same odd angle every shot your not tuned. (or not out of paradox - step back, but open your eyes.)

Thanks of the tips. Blank bail and blind bale are very useful tools that I always push to the back burner and forget about.

Thought this would get more responses. The tip is most important to newbies and they arn't going to read it, because they don't know how important form is!!!!

Very good reminder/tip Bowmania :thumbsup: I suspect the lack of response may be because many bowhunters especially "newbies" may not know what blind bailing or blank bailing is... I'm better at describing sharpening techniques than I am helping people with shooting form, so perhaps someone better qualified than me can elaborate beyond my basic "It's shooting at a plain bail or block without a target on it" Thanks,

I've been beating the drum too, ever since our class with Rod. I now have a Block target in my kitchen/living room so I can pick the bow up anytime I walk by and shoot a few. Just describing my shot sequence to others has helped implant the steps more fully into my mind. I already made my own Form Master and use that regularly also. I hadn't thought of doing it with bare shafts though.

Guys, I am not a newbie to trad. archery, however for yrs I felt you just pull the string and let go. Form is something that I started hearing about when I realized I was not a good shot after watching others. I had a lot of bad habits, and hard to break. This forum helped me a lot - esp. tips from Moebow. He is big on Blind Bailing. I have seen references to Form Master, what is that? What does it do for your form? Is it the best way to get the best of old bad habits? How do I get one? Sorry for so many questions.

I'm new to archery and I do this to start off every practice and it really has helped me improve.

I never shoot blind bale but shoot close(2-3 yards) with my eyes open.It just seems that my form is not the same with my eyes closed.It may be the same but doesn't feel the same.I think that I can get the same effect with my eyes open because I'm not aiming at all,just concentrating on form.Yes,bale shooting(blind or just close)does work and really helps to reinforce good from.

The Form Master can be bought at 3rivers, or you can make one. I just bought one but if you ask or use the search I bet you can find out how to make one. What it does is if you short string it, so make the string to the base of your middle finger, you draw and it make you use nothing but your back muscles. Cause you can't grip the string. Another thing you can do is make it 1 inch longer than your middle finger and shoot and it make you use your back muscles to finish your shot. If you aren't properly using your back muscles your arm will fly forward with the string, but if your using your back muscles then will stop the string from moving forward and your arrow will barely stick in the target. Sometimes even bounce off. Hope this helps.

Snakebit40 & Reddogge, You guys blow me away. THANK YOU for the explanations and the pictures really helped. I spent 30 NOT using back muscles. Soooo its going to need a lot of work. I have been devoting a lot of time to it but still have problems. The Form Master will help a lot. I have learned a tom since I found this site. THANK YOU!
