Well my group had opened up a little so I was playing around with different things last night and started shooting split fingers(I've always shot 3 under). Man!! That made a difference. My groups are tighter than ever and my bow is a lot quieter. I thought I'd try it tonight and BAM tight groups and quiet bow. :knothead:
Anyone else had this experience?

I get the itch to try 2/3 under every once in a while. Can't stand the extra noise. Split for me.
As a side-note, it seems every time I change some little something, I shoot better for a while. It never lasts... Mental, I'm sure, but then again, I don't mind that particular moniker.

I started split, had to go 2 under due to an injury to a finger, stayed with 3 under after that finished healing, and got pretty fair that way. Then, recently, had to drop a lot of weight and went back to split to keep the point on out to a useful range... much to my surprise, I found that I shot split better than evern. Was it because of the switch or just because I had several years more experience with a lot of bows? don't know, but it accomplished what I needed, letting me continue to shoot at the same ranges i was used to even though I had dropped 15 pounds. Of course, lighter arrows figured in that, too, but I was pretty surprised with the split finger result.

Split for me and always.Too much slapping noise from 2-3 under.I notice most 2-3 archers shoot the lower poundage and anchor very high near the eye,alot of them also wear a bandade on their cheek from the string hitting them. I can't tube the shaft,doesn't seem natural to me.

Started out split-finger and being brand new couldn't hit anything. Heard about 3 under, tried it and had some instant success.Later, I had a nock break close too close to my eye for my liking and switched back to split. I noticed right away how much more natural and physically comfortable it felt to shoot that way for me.

Anyone else have better results after shooting 3 under for awhile?
I was just playing around and started shooting split last night after I was struggling with my form and group sizes. To my surprise it felt more natural than three under and was much quieter. Basically I've have had the same results as John- Okie 1
Now I know this is beating a dead horse in a way but... we usually speak more of switching to 3 under, not switching back to split.

Well, I shot split, switched to 3 under and had better success. But maybe I'll go home and try split tonight and see if I want to go back again. After all, most bows are tillered for split unless otherwise requested of the bowyer. (Probably why most people think 3under is louder -- the bow wasn't built for it.)

A lot of archers are very accurate with 3 under, tried it, didnt like the "feel", plus, my first hunt 3 under, was for rabbits and after i flushed the first one, i shot split without thinking. Wonder what I would have done with a nice buck or hog? shot split ever since.

Here is one for you. Last season my hunting partner shot a doe. He had switched to 3 under, after years of shooting split. He smoked the doe with a great shot. He told me that he realized after he shot and was tracking the doe that he shot her with split finger after practicing all in the summer 3-under. Shoot what works for you. He only shoots split finger now.

I starting out shooting split,it just feels more natural to me.I have no real good reason to change for me.

I started out at 3 under and recently changed to split. It did tighten up my groups.

I tried both split and 3 under when I was 14 years old. Shot much better with split and have stayed with split for the last 47 years.

Been split for me from day 1. I tried 3under a few times, but it never fit me well and I quickly returned to what felt natural to me. Steve

I have been shooting split finger since I was 5, and I am almost 59 now. After almost 54 years, I am not about to try to change. Besides, my shooting is fine already. Not to say I couldn't improve some. ;)

Well, I had the opposite experience, but I'm glad it made an improvement for ya.

I know I don't have near as much trouble getting good arrow flight shooting split finger. Bow is quieter also. No more accurate for me but just as good.

I've went back and forth for a few years.Keep coming back to split, it is much more "natural" feeling for me.

Actually, I too had the opposite experience...going from split to three under. I did not experience any additional noise that was mentioned in previous posts.
I think that whatever works for that particular person is the way to go.
There was also some mention about 'arrow control'. I don't have that issue. I just put some serving, with a small amount of space between the serving and nock, to serve as a second nocking point below the primary nocking point. This also prevents the potential for 'purpoising'.
