Title: Little help from you split vision guys.
Post by: wv lungbuster on August 18, 2011, 04:48:00 PM
Ok here the prob, I will give you a break down of what is happening. I'm focusing on the intended target before the bow is drawn, I reach anchor still focusing using the arrow as a reference, everything is inline but I can tell my sight picture is wrong. The gap is to high and can't adjust.

What do you mean "can't adjust?"  Do you mean your arm is frozen into position and won't move?  Have you tried bending at the waist?

Try this.  Look at the target and come to full draw.  ONLY AFTER reaching your anchor set your gap.  Continue looking at the target and in your peripheral vision just POINT the arrow at the approximate vertical gap.  If the gap you want at,say, 20 yards is 2 feet low just allow your peripheral vision to estimate it.  DO NOT SHIFT YOUR FOCUS TO THE ARROW. If the nock of the arrow is under your eye, you should have no (or little) left or right adjustment to make.  Trying to keep the arrow on the "gap" during draw adds too much for our brains to process.  ONE STEP AT A TIME.

Yes that is exactly what I mean. It's mostly at closer ranges also.

I can understand this as I had same issues of being stuck and not able to adjust once at anchor, and if I was able to adjust it always seemed a average/poor shot.

I just learnt to finish my draw at correct split-vision gap for whatever distance, the fine tune aim adjustment when I focused on spot is really just a micro movement and done at a subconscious level.

This also helped improve my accuracy and increased my confidence level.
