Well all,
Tonight I was messing around with 3 under shooting and dry fired my bow. All I can guess is that my nocks were too loose and I wasnt holding the arrow on because of the 3 under. the good news is that the bow seems fine. I shot it a few more times and dont feel, hear or see any changes. Has anybody had this experience. I went ahead and got a cup of boiling water and tightened up my nocks but I am pretty scared of trying the 3 under thing again.
For what its worth I did seem to shoot better but the bow was much noisier. I have read a bunch of threads tonight and that seems like the norm. The main reason I am toying with the three under is because I am considering a shorter bow and thought the 3 under might minimize finger pinch. Is this true or just a figment of my imagination???
Thanks
C

Put second nock point on to make more secure fit.

Try raising the nocking point. It should help quiet your bow.In some cases this might be as high as 3/4- 1".I shoot a 56" bow 3 under and I cannot say the pinch is less for me but more pressure is transferred to the third finger. As zetabow said I tie a thread nock below the arrow to keep it from slipping down the string.Good shooting!

snap nocks help too

Caleb,
I shoot 3 under, and keep my nocks pretty loosen without dry firing. As mentioned above, a second nocking point should help. Also, when I grip the string; I keep pressure upwards on the nock with my index finger.
Just be aware of a possible problem, and in no time you will feel comfortable with 3 under.
Raising the nock point slightly will help with the noise.

I experience less dry fires since switching to 3 under. When shooting split my fingers would pull the nock of the string but still hold the arrow so that I wouldn't know. In my third year of 3 under and I am yet to have a dry fire - I would have 2-3 a year when shooting split. Your nock should be tight enough that the arrow will hang vertically from the string but loose enough to come of with a slight tap of the string or shakeing of the bow.
