Title: Mastering the Draw/Release Cycle?
Post by: Geezer on January 28, 2012, 12:15:00 AM: You just know when you've released and you watch the arrow hit the bull that all is well in the world. But when only 25% of your arrows hit the exact spot your eyes are locked onto, what changes from one shot to the other that makes the others fall 2", 3"...or more from your point of aim? I'm doing my best to not to over-analyze it, but somewhere between the conscious decision to shoot (start of draw) and the release (follow-through) what happens that distinguishes a perfect shot from one that isn't so perfect?

What little secrets do others have that has helped them to shoot 75%+ at the point of aim?

Post by: David Yukon on January 28, 2012, 12:58:00 AM: I think for me is consistency, to have the bow in the same position, the hand at the same place, to hit anchor every time and the same anchor every time.... to be sure you have the same amount of focus on every shot etc etc...

On the ones that fly of to where everville I know at the moment I loose them they are going wrong. Taking the time to feel the shot seams to be the most important thing to me.

Post by: McDave on January 29, 2012, 11:26:00 AM: There's always more to learn, just like peeling another layer off an onion. As soon as I identify one source of error, like torquing my string hand that throws my arrows to the left, and stop doing that (mostly), then I discover another one, like holding my drawing elbow too low that throws my arrows high.

It's a continual search for perfection that will never end, thankfully, or we'd get bored with it and have to take up golf.

Post by: fmscan on January 29, 2012, 01:15:00 PM: McDave, glad that I read your comments, I am frustrated (like I was went I golfed), solve one problem and all of a sudden 2 more unique problems arise... quess it is a constant search for some of us to get all the pieces together.
