went out and shot this afternoon and every couple shots i would shoot left (i'm RH) and finally figured out I was dropping my bow arm when i released. well, next few shots I would "make myself" hold up my arm for approx 2 sec's and my arrows would hit my spot. next shot, i'd forget to hold bow arm up and Bam! left again..does anyone have any tips/tricks on remembering to hold up your bow arm until the arrow hits the target or do I just "make myself remember" each and every time until it becomes second nature.. :banghead: thanks alot , GBH

Proper alignment cures a LOT of problems....see the form clock thread featured near the top... :campfire:

will do, thanks terry and apologize about posting this in Powow.. i wasnt thinkin' cause my mind was still on the shootin' range :knothead:

My last thought before I release is to "be a statue" this thought prevents my bow hand from moving in any direction. It works for me. Good luck.

Exactly what straight_arrow said.
-
Alignment and back tension will cure it.

Have a friend hold a field tipped arrow point up about an inch under your arm. You'll quit dropping Your arm pretty quick. LOL
-
After each shoot force yourself to hold your arm up and count to 10. Do this at least 5 times... Repeat if you catch yourself droping your bowarm
-
Just remember...if something is poking you, or you are 'forcing' yourself to do something after a wrong execution.....that is not addressing the cure.
Fear of being poked is now a concern that shouldn't even be in the picture....and 'forcing' yourself is 'muscling the bow'. Neither are fixing the read problem.
Your bow arm should stay put by default because your form is correct and you are aligned properly.

Just a thought.
Position large puff string silencers at the ~1/3 points. If I drop my arm, they move into my view plane during follow thru and serves to aggrivatingly disrupt the enjoyment of proper shot execution.
-
If it's a mental thing, try watching the arrow point leave the bow. A shift in triggers.
-
I tell myself and my son the only thing that should move prior to the arrow striking the target is your string fingers.
-
I would say that MoOse hit it. Back tension and alignment= push-pull. If you are pushing the bow hand forward as you are pulling with back tension to create the release, your bow hand will not drop.

My bow arm stays on target untill the arrow hits. Its just part of my follow through on my shot, i don't even realize i do it.
-
Just keep pushing with your bow hand until the arrow hits.
