Title: Best aiming method for me
Post by: Sirius Black on June 05, 2012, 07:43:00 PM
I have tried gap and point of aim and they don't really work for me because I'm not right or left eye dominant- I see my target clearly w/ both eyes open, but in my secondary vision there are two arrow shafts/points, bow arms, etc. I shoot right handed, and I've noticed that the arrow on the left is the "real" one, but it's so faint, just a ghost image, in low light I can't see it. I'm thinking "purely instinctive" is my only way to go. What do you members think?

Aim the way you need to....the way that works best for you.  You will figure it out.  What ever way makes you more accurate on game is the way to go.  Period.

If you've discovered that the arrow on the left is the "real" one then you are left eye dominate, even if only slightly so. Try closing, or at least squinting the left eye to force the right eye to take over. Line the arrow point up with your target, let 'er fly and see what happens.

Thanks guys for the input. But I do think I am eye neutral. If I reverse the situation and shoot lefty, the arrow I see on the right is the "real" one. When I do the eye dominance test of pointing at a distant target, then closing one eye and see if the finger moves, if I use my right arm/hand I come out right-eye dominant. If I use the left arm/side, I come out left-eye dominant. I've lately been trying Rick Welchs' style, or way of shooting, and it seems to be working.
