Terry,
On a recent post you made this statement to help illustrate proper drawing of the bow "stand with an open door behind him, and act like he's drawing the bow AND trying to close the door behind him”
I can’t get a mental picture of what your describing... anyway you could illustrate further, picture, drawing, or video?
Are you facing the open door or with your back to it?
-
With your drawing arm side to it...let me see what I can draw up.
-
I'm sure Terry will get a figure drawn but until then have you ever walked in the door with both hands full of groceries and kind of hooked the door with your elbow to swing it shut? I think that is the idea he is getting at. The draw elbow comes straight back for a ways but then hooks around in a J pattern as you fully engage the back. Please correct me if I am wrong.
-
OK....the door is in a normal position.
The shooter is where he would stand yet closer to the door so the draw motion would actually shut it...but this is the overhead view of the shooter to show the draw.

Thanks Terry and Gary between the both of you this paints a great Mental and actual picture of what the movement is, thanks again!
-
Wow terry your drawing just made me feel the shoulder engage(I think). I think before my shoulder was going up in the socket and stopping making me feel like I could not go any further. I just realized that trying to shut the door method keeping it parallel with ground feels way different. Thanks for the pictorial
-
The only problem I have with this is all my doors open the other direction.
-
Well look at the image in the mirror. ;)
-
Terry, I just want to make sure I really get it lol. Basically you use a rotational draw, but instead of bringing the elbow in an up around and down sort of movement like Moebow demonstrates, you keep your elbow out and parallel to the ground as you draw so your elbow would come around your body in a circular movement till your at full draw with your elbow pointing straight back???

A picture is worth a thousand words.....maybe I can show this to my brother......he draws about 28" and he should be around 30". No one listens to their brother anyway.....
-
Terry, I am in no way saying anything bad, because I really wish I could shoot like you, but in that video it looks like the completion of the J is happening long after the arrow has left the bow. Can you explain how this draw works? Actually I'm sure you already have. Maybe you could point me to the thread?
-
I am completing the J (see form clock thread page 2 - 2nd clock pic)....but at release I am 'following though' in the same direction my elbow is traveling at release....which is around and not back.
-
What are the specs of that bow in that vid?
-
Thank you Terry.
