Title: Help with Hill Bow

Let me tell you my story about my journey with Hill bows and see if you all can help me. I bought my first Hill when I was 55 years old. It was the only bow I had. All the training was John's Hitting them Howard Hill. So I practiced and got fairly good at 20 yds. I then fell on ice and broke my left arm. No shooting for 5 months. During my lay off I knew I needed a lighter bow to rehab so I had a ILF with 24# limbs. I got good with it but a different style of shooting. When I went back to the Hill for what ever reason I developed a colapse about every 4-5 shots. I have never gotten back to where I was with the Hill before my accident.And that's been about 3 years ago. I decided I was just going to shoot the Hill and nothing else. But I still cannot get back to the consistancy that I had before the accident. Any help would be appriciated.

I would say shoot blank bale for a couple weeks. No targets, just very close. Even start out with your eyes closed and just feel the shot.

Hey Claymore Hill and Hill type bows are all I shoot. They are excellent hunting and even great on 3d or just backyard shooting.
I believe your problem with it is one of two things or a combination of both. Collapses in form usually manifest from lack of proper back tension or from being overbowed or both. You can do a search on both subjects and get more expert advice that I can give you. Both problems can be corrected and I believe you will love that Hill when she and you start hitting the mark with much consistency. Some strength training is in order to overcome being overbowed. My Hill was on the high limit of what weight I could handle and still maintain proper form. After six months of shooting my form is rock solid and pulling actual 54 lbs. is childs play. You can do it too!
Alot of Hill bows have been coming in at 4 or more lbs. over marked weight so she may be a bit heavier than she is marked.
Proper form comes with proper practice. In fact doing what khardrunner  suggestedis one of the best things you can do for consistent form. Shoot at a bale or bag with no target and concentrate on form only. Don't worry about aiming. This will help proper form. I like to blindfold myself and get a few yards from the bale and shoot. It helped me feel proper back tension and did wonders for my release.
For strength training I just started pulling my bow back and would hold it to fatigue with about 3 reps to start. It will get you there pretty darn quick. Good shootin....Dave

A video of your shot would help alot, but when switching to the ILF bow did you perhaps alter your shooting style to mimic a target shooter approach (erect stance, super-loose grip, long hold, breaking down/analyzing your form into many tiny steps, etc.)?  If so perhaps you've lost the simplicity of style that many find works best with Hill-type bows (and hunting situations).  

Sometimes it's possible to overthink how you shoot, making it more complicated than it is and losing concentration on the spot you want to hit.  Back to basics might help, maybe spending  more time with the Schulz video and less with the modern target archery 101 stuff.  

This video clip (one of several he's made) might help.  Peter S. can hit what he shoots at, is fun to watch and shows how simple/basic form can be both fun and effective.
