Title: Building Good Form For Beginner
Post by: CKeth on April 20, 2013, 01:27:00 PM
I recently picked up a longbow again after not shooting for around 10 years. I'm essentially starting from scratch and I want to take the opportunity to build good shooting form.

What resources would you guys recommend I read or watch to build this? Are there any archived articles aimed at beginners?

Check Rick Welch on U Tube. He also sells DVD's I attended his school last summer and it improved my skills a great deal. The volume 3 DVD was what introduced me to his form. Good luck. I started shooting 3 years ago after a 35 year break. It'll comeback to you.

Rod Jenkins for form work - he does clinics all over and it would be a good investment.  All of the other suggestions are good as well.  Moe and Blackmon are both excellent for self study and the book Shooting the Stickbow, 2nd Edition
by Anthony Camera is a good resource also. I also like to review MBB III.

For myself looking up and finding a local coach and taking part in local archery clubs and events and networking has been crucial.

Being willing to not shoot targets until your form is ingrained will speed up the process.

What's "MBB III"? I googled it but google just thinks I'm looking for the third Men in Black movie.
