Title: Video Critique
Post by: tsorenson on June 06, 2013, 11:05:00 AM
Here is video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhDceHMmHOY)  I took this morning at the bow range.  I realize it is fuzzy, and only one shot, so perhaps not much to tell...but I'm curious, being a new shooter, if I'm doing anything right!  There doesn't seem to be anyone near me that shoots traditional, so I have no idea what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong, so I would appreciate some advice.

I thought it might be nice to hear both what is right and what is wrong with my form as I want to make sure that when I change something, I don't tweak something else that I was doing right if that makes sense.  Thanks!

You appear to shoot pretty well. But this one shot and angle are not the best way to get help.  When you video, it is really best to get straight on (face to face) with the camera and one from behind and above.

The angles and back lighting really make it hard to tell anything that can be constructive.  Video/internet analysis is hard enough that it should not be compromised with poor angles.

Try again and I'm sure you will get better information.

Thanks, Arne.  I will try and find a way to get better lighting - and certainly the better angles.  I realize video analysis is difficult...I asked the president of our archery club if there were any traditional shooters in the club (about 400 members) and they couldn't think of a single one.  Gotta be someone around, though - I've seen a few guys in the hills with 'em.

Thanks again for the tips on how to do the video!

I watched it several times and like Arne said, it's difficult , but looks pretty good from what I can see.
