Ok here's a question for you cooking fans. You're setting up a base camp (truck camp) for a week. What do you plan to eat? Just the big meals, not the breakfast/lunch. What do you find is easiest to prepare and carry? Transportation should be considered as the base camp is hours (if not days) away. Just looking for ideas to spice up my fall hunts.

Chili, Pot Roast, Lasagna, Baked Ziti with Sausage, Gumbo, Chicken Pot Pie, Beef Stew, etc... All can be prepared in advance, frozen, transported, kept frozen in coolers, then reheated as needed.

If it's a truck camp and you can haul a few things I can help out a bit with a tip we've used in the past.
Before you leave, cook up a monster batch of your favorite soup, stew, gumbo etc and can it in quart mason jars. Pack the jars into camp in the truck along with a big old pot like a turkey fryer or roasting pan. When it's getting close to supper, put on a pot of water about half full and add as many jars of soup as you figure you will need. Adjust the water level so it's about at the shoulder of the bottle. Bring it all to a boil and let it roll a bit then lift out the jars and serve. Save the hot water in the big pot for doing dishes after supper.
I've done this with both beef stew and a hearty hamburger vegetable and it worked great.

Thanks Dave! Sounds like a great idea. We were working on the menu this weekend and soup's definitely on the list. Just trying to think of things that will last the trip without requiring a lot of prep time in camp because we'll most likely want to roll into bed and sleep soon after dark. Wish we could have some of my late uncle's Brunswick stew to take along.
