Hi Gang,
Anybody want to share their Wild Turkey recipie with me?
Thanks. :help:

Crock pot the legs with some broth until tender. Take the meat from the bones and use in anything. Breasts can be used just like any other poultry like cutlets or kabobs. Roasting a whole bird is not a good choice because they have very little fat, and the legs contain highly developed tendons. Cooking them separately and using different methods insures a tasty tender final product.

Thanks Al,
Legs etc. are in the crock pot as we speak, breast is marinating getting ready for the BBQ tomorrow.
I am surprised at the only response, makes me wonder what all you guys are doing with your Turkeys? Just curious and looking for some "new" ideas. :dunno:
Regards.
Bert.

Well the Bird was thawed out and I had to do something with it, I took Al's advise and did the legs etc. in the slow cooker for soup but did the breasts on the BBQ with a little "peppered" bacon on top, what do you think?

Looking good.

With that leg meat, you can use it for fajitas, pulled turkey, gumbo, salads, etc...

Here is a recipe that was in Virginia Wildlife for using the legs and thighs for enchiladas. I have not been lucky enough to get the ingredients yet so I can't tell you if it is good or not.

Best wild turkey i've eaten was cooked by Marty McMahon on a trip to NE. He cut the meat into about 1" cubes, soaked it overnight in milk and then battered it with 1/2 all purpose flour and 1/2 italian bread crumbs, then deep fried it in peanut oil. very tasty. Ive done every one Ive killed since then just like that.

Man ! It looks good on the grill brother! I can almost taste it. Let us know how it was.
Thanks,
Charlie

I grilled the last chunk of my turkeys breast last night. It was the best yet- it was still partly frozen in the middle when I put it on the grill. Seared it first and set it to the side until the temp hit 150. Fantastic! Seasoned with just salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Same seasoning on the morels... Juiciest I've ever cooked.

Here is another that was in the latest Virginia Wildlifw magazine.
