Title: twist on venison roast
Post by: KOOK68 on June 03, 2013, 03:34:00 PM
I tried a different spin the other day, and it turned out fantastic. Cooked in the crock pot.
One venison roast (or beef, pork, etc.)
One packet of each. Ranch dressing mix, italian dressing mix, and brown gravy mix. (I used the mushroom mix)
Mix dry ingredients together, and cover the roast with it. Any leftover goes in the pot. Add roast and 3/4 cups of water. ( I had to add water when it would boil out. Use your judgement, it just makes gravy) I also added onion, garlic and bell peppers, diced up near the end.
Cooked on low for about 6 hours or until tender,  and served over mashed potatoes.   :archer2:

Crockpots are a great way to go. Do one very similarly with potato, carrot, and onion. A can of spicy V8 or Rotel can be added.

The next time you do this recipe use root beer in place of the water. You will be surprised.
