Since I've moved to Colorado, I really am loving having all these different species available to hunt, however, I really miss stalking through the Georgia swamps looking for pigs all summer, LOL.
Does anyone know where the closest place to the Denver area would have huntable hogs on public land/ or private with just permission?
Thanks

Probably Texas, there are abundant places with hogs down there most all private. Shoot straight

OK,TX panhandle, eastern NM. Would go to the Tx panhandle myself. Check out the plaska lodge.

I've been to Plaska Lodge myself. Great hunt for the Red River Monsters. Friendly people and first rate accomadations.

What are the prices at Plaska?

Where is the place in eastern NM mentioned above? I'd like to learn more of a place nearby...

Vig, there was an article published a few years ago about hunting hogs between Clayton and Capulin. I don't emember what ranch. Hogs are in the SE corner of Colorado but I don't know if there are very many.... yet. Central Texas is loaded with Hogs-some are in Far West Texas also and,as mentioned, in the panhandle-Of course S.Texas is loaded also but is further fom us.

Thanks Tree man. I'm here in NM for about the next 4 months and was looking to attempt a hog hunt... hopefully on the cheap! If anyone knows of any good places in NM please advise.

Tree man is right. I have a friend who owns an archery shop in north Denver and his partner hunted boars in southern Colorado. I will get more information and reply. Andrew

Cowboy Camp Outfitters (303-981-4615) offers hog hunting about 80 miles SW of Denver. Check with the guys at Rocky mtn specialty gear (trad archery shop in Denver). They have hunted there last summer.

I used to live in Longmont, actually the Fredrick / Firestone area, before the fungus took (houses and urban spraw) over everything there. East of there there is some state land that is flat and has pheasants, bunnies etc., and free to huntand easy to find.
There are some pig farms nearby, you'd be able to find then with your nose.
OK, just kidding........
I am off to Hawaii.
CYA in a couple of weeks. :archer: :jumper:
