Here last summer Connie, Jason and I were out in AZ enjoying the sun and playing a little. . .Golf. I know, I know a dumb game. Anyway we stopped by one afternoon and visited with the Petkos. Terry mentioned that Debbie had given him a guided elk hunt for his birthday in CO and that he had decided to tip the scales in his favor by setting aside the selfbow in favor of a glass longbow because he was more consistant with it.
Well during the day we ended up breaking out the bows and heading for his backyard target range. Soon we were swapping bows around and he shot my new BushWacker that we had just finished for our elk hunt. And he shot it well.
When we got back, I got thinking that Terry would rather hunt with wood then glass but shot the glass better. But he shot the BushWacker better then the glass.
So I called him and offered up a trade. I've wanted one of his sinew backed selfbows for my collection and hoped that he would bite on the deal. Anyway yesterday we finished up Terry's bow and will be delivering it the second week of the new year in AZ on the Javie hunt.
We'll take a few sneak preview shots this morning and post em here on this thread. But a quick description is Indian Rosewood with an Osage handle cap and tips. Natural Tonkin Bamboo backing with Osage and bamboo lams. It actually is very close to the bow I hunted with in Idaho (mine has Shedua instead of Rosewood). I didn't realize it til Jason pointed it out yesterday. This one is seven pounds lighter though and tips the scale at 56 # at 28".
Stand by for a sneak peak.

Wonder what Christmas is like in AZ where it's like 100 degrees..no snow that's for sure :biglaugh:
-
Don't know about that Terry, We had some snow here in Prescott and the temp was at 19 deg. But it is nice in the lower desert. Can't wait for javi season in Jan. Going to build a 56" bamboo longbow to hunt those boys with. Saw the better half in the TBM that came yesterday.

It is snowing in Alburque Ferret, and it is 35 degrees in San Antonio, Austin Texas is in for some snow for Christmas. So the snow is making it way down far south this year

Seasons Greetings I went to the web site, and I have to say WOW! Great looking bow. Any plans to offer the same design in a longer length? Merry Christmas.
-
Blunthead,
How much longer? We only make the BushWacker in 58 and 60 as it's a short bow design. We do have longer bows and can do horn bellies on both the WindTalker and the SoothSayer.

I got a call from Mike 6 hours into a 15 hour 1100 mile drive....... After making it through rain sleet and snow we are safe and sound in Dallas......I'm not on my computer and already lost a longer post so I'll keep this short..... I am at a loss for words.... Like I told Mike he is getting the short end of the stick on this deal but I'll do my best for ya on your bow...... This is one beautiful bow my friend and I'm sure it will bring me good luck on my 50th B'day Elk hunt.... Thanks again and Merry Chrismas to all my trad gang buds.... Terry (awestruck in Dallas)
-
Good luck on your B'day hunt Terry.
Merry Christmas!
-
That's a beauty. Terry will be happy with that bow.

I had to stop in and take another peek at my bow.... Mikes' bushwackers fit me like a glove I'm still amazed at his generosity in offering up this friendship bow...... Merry Christmas to everybody who makes this site so special and may the new year bring more friendships as amazing and long lasting as the ones I've been so fortunate to make....... Terry

Mike-Looks like another beautiful bow. You and Jason are getting way too consistent! :bigsmyl:

Well Guys .... I just got back from the Javie hunt where Mike and Jason presented me with my Bushwacker..... The pics definitely don't do it justice and talk about a sweet shooting bow that balances in your hand the way a bow should I don't care who ya are.....If you haven't tried shooting one of these ya need to look Mike and Jason up at one of the many shows they attend and have them let you shoot one a bit.... You'll be hooked too...... Great product and you'll never meet better people anywhere.... :campfire: :archer: Terry
