Title: Manitoba Wolf with a bear tag?
Post by: capt eddie on February 27, 2011, 02:45:00 PM
Can someone tell me if a wolf is covered under a black bear tag when hunting in Manitoba?

Only if you are hunting the fall season! I'm hoping they'll change that though with the extreme increase in the wolf population.....Ryan

There are some changes in store for the wolves, but spring shooting them is not one of them. There is concern that it is inhumane to shoot the most frequent wolf visitors to bait sites, which is lactating females. Which in turn, leaves a litter left to starve.

What I find interesting is, the wolf, coyote and beaver trapping season does not close this year and runs right to Aug. 31 to re-open Sept 1? Sounds like the old days when we shot them all on sight.

Nope...no fall season for me! The bear hunting can be good but can be horrible as well. Too many factors involved for consistant action on the baits. (late harvest, acorns, berries, etc.) I like the predictability of spring hunts...takes the stress off me!

Spring I can give up but fall is my time to chase critters...need to refill my tank as well!
