I am attempting to plan a hunt to Australia in late 2012 or 2013. There will be two hunters and one non-hunter. I am wanting to stay at least 14 days and focus on large hogs. I have very limited experience on dangerous game,(unless you count feral hogs) so I dont know about water buffalo.
As with all trips, there are hidden expenses. I would like to know what your total cost of your Australia hunt was, including air fare, tips, trophy shipments (horns, whatever)
Water buffalo and large Hogs: Do you pay trophy fees, like in Africa?
license cost?
would 10 to 12 thousand USD cover all expenses? thank you

Sounds like plenty of money to cover a trip and more, depending on your level of luxury. Check out the Australia Traditional Archery forums, you'll find the folk there very helpful:

I spent 3 weeks in Australia hunting hogs and Axis Deer or Chital as they call them down there and a week being a tourist and the total cost was right around $6000.00 We didnt have trophy fees where I hunted but I think you might pay them on Buffalo depending on who you hunt with and there are no license cost. Joseph,
I assume that did not include air fare? if so, that is a hell of a deal. Who was your outfitter? Thanks.

For the Pig hunts you pay No trophy fee on the hogs you can shoot as many as you like, its included in the cost of the Safari.
for the Water Buffalo, scrub bulls and Deer there is a trophy fee.
All Safari's within reason can be customized to suit your needs.
drop me a Pm with any Questions or Quires you have and ill help answer as best i can.
Im in the process of Updating the website

Joseph, does that include airfare?

You'll find it all pretty reasonable but for assured access to game , I'd recommend Mick and Andy at Trophy Bowhunts Australia [ TG sponsor ] .
Pigs are everywhere in Oz but they move around so much that getting onto a property that has them is often a game of luck .
Also Australia is vast and the distamces to get to these properties often involve many many hrs driving .
On the other hand , Mick will take out the guess work for you making the whole trip a lot less stress free .
Money well spent!
