Just put in for my fall MN bear tag. Outfitter is in area 25 and Im a non resident. I saw on the MN DNR website they issure 900 tags for this hunt area. Does anybody know if this is resident and non combined? Anybody hunt this area or know much about it. I know its a big area. Any info helps. Bought this hunt at a auction and Im all in the blind about bear hunting in this area. Thanks for any info!!!

I've hunted MN many times...in fact I'm 8 for 8 on bears. 900 is the total number of tags issued N/R and Res alike for the are. The success rate in MN runs ~30% and alomost all of the bears are taken opening weekend.
You'll be hunting over bait...which isn't as easy as it sounds. The biggest challenge is the limited amount of bait readily available in that part of MN this time of year.
As long as the berries are not in season and the acorns arn't falling you should do okay.
Lots of guides use dog food and fryer grease...it works bit there is no substitute for volume.
