had a kiwi mate come over for a quick hunt.
took himself a nice scrubber with recurve and I bloodied my widow on a couple sows...
would have had a couple more pics of scrubbers, but old mates camera packed it in..
perfect shot on this scrubber, behind back ribs angling forward into chest cavity, buried to the nock..

we were both were using bows approx 55lbs,
arrow weights approx 570s,
2 blade broadheads,blackstumps and eclipse,
shot distances ,all under 15 yards,
distance game travelled, bull went 15 yards,
sows went 5 and 25 yards,
keen to knock over a couple boars and bulls with the curve and then venture over to NZ in nov/april,may get a chance at a chamois/red...
cheers pat.

Good stuff there, congrats!

That is really neat, great pic's.. We have some true wild free range cattle in the area I live in Texas. I need to give them a go. Do you take any meat from the scrub bulls ?
-
Great to see your giving the trad gear a go Pat well done on some nice game
-
I would love to give that a try on free range cattle. How is the meat off of them? I'm sure very lean.

thanks guys, hoping to get out myself more, but in the heart of the season...
we have taken the scrubbers meat off the back straps and back legs, not much good as steaks etc, they really need hanging at least for some time in a cooler and also to pick a not so aged,or poor condition bull.....though mincing has been fine, hard to get tough mince hey?
cheers
pat

Congratulations on great kills! We had Rio Grande Delta "scrubbers" for a good while very dangerous to get on because of tall grass & severe dense undergrowth. Wild & wooly mankillers so the stories go. Too bad I never hunted them.
